They are in the business to sell and they will use every marketing technique they can dream up to get the consumer to spend their money with them. Don't fall for this trap or you will get off course with saving for your dreams.
THREE WAYS TO AVOID THE MARKETING TRAPS:
1...Avoid the malls and stores. It's too easy to get caught up in the deals you find and walk out with a purchase you didn't plan on buying that day. If your bored find another activity or hobby to consume your time.
2...Unsubscribe to store deals. With technology, businesses have made it easy to subscribe to their online deals and ads. Avoid the constant reminder of deals by removing your name from their lists. If it's a store that you shop at frequently you may want to keep your name on that list so you can watch for deals on the item(s) you are saving your money to purchase. As they say "keep your eye on the target". If you are saving for a new bed avoid looking at the deals on other furniture that you are not currently saving to buy.
3...Throw away your mail. If you are not currently saving for a new piece of furniture or lawn care services then throw away the ads immediately that arrive in your mailbox. Those are just a few examples of fliers I receive in the mail. Whatever the ad is selling you are probably not looking to buy it at this time so don't be tempted. Toss it!
The less we surround ourselves with these temptations the more successful we can be in reaching our goal!
