I am currently wrapping up a 60 Day Challenge to Save $500. The participants all had amazing things they wanted to do with that $500 savings at the end of the challenge. Some included vacations, parties, upgraded vehicles, and summer fun.
Now many of you might being thinking $500 is not enough for a dream vacation or a new shiny vehicle. Your right it isn't enough! The point of this challenge wasn't to limit your dreams to $500. I'll explain the goal of the challenge in just a minute.
It's extremely hard to stay focused on a goal when there are external and internal forces pulling at you. Challenging yourself to save for things that are important to you can be very hard. People are natural spenders or savers which we discuss in my money connection coaching sessions. If you are a natural spender it can be extremely difficult to talk yourself out of an impulse purchase vs. saving the money for something you really want or need. On the other hand, a saver can struggle with tagging their money for something specific and prefer to just keep it for emergencies or every day purchases. Both personality types can veer off course if there are not defined financial goals and the drive to reach those dreams.
Now what was the point of this $500 challenge? It was to push the challengers to believe that they can save for their dreams. They learned to take action by changing their spending habits and thought process. The $500 might not be sufficient for all their dreams but they are now equipped with tools to help them succeed in pushing forward with their financial goals.
It takes work and dedication but if it's important to you then isn't it worth it?
How are you saving for your dreams?
